We want to thank you for your continued patience as we work to complete important upgrades on our infrastructure within your community on Stewart Avenue. As we approach the completion of these improvements, we wanted to let you know what to expect in the final stages of the project.

  • Crews will backfill excavations and remove materials and equipment from the work zone.
  • Temporary restoration and then final restoration of the impacted areas will take place.
  • As of right now, milling, and complete asphalt restoration has begun on Stewart Avenue.
  • Restoration activities include, replacing the impacted sidewalks/curbs, and restoring the grassy areas.

We appreciate your patience as we continue our night work in your area. Beginning this month, we expect work to begin closer to Avalon Garden City Apartments located at 998 Stewart Avenue.

Our crews will continue excavations on The Stewart Avenue Upgrade project.  

The Stewart Avenue Upgrade project will continue to upgrade existing infrastructure to increase reliability, enhance safety, operational flexibility, and improve service throughout Nassau County.
Work will take place at night, Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 pm – 5:00 am
Due to the complexities of outdoor construction, schedule subject to change. Please reach out to our project team for more information. 

 What to expect during construction (Stewart Avenue)

  • Excavation of the roadway, installation of infrastructure, temporary restoration of the roadway, testing of the new infrastructure, and final restoration.
  •  Traffic pattern changes. There will be changes to traffic patterns during work hours. A flagger will be onsite to assist as necessary.
  •  Street plates. The project site will be secured and plated during non-work hours. Please note that after temporary restoration, the road surface may be rough.
  •  For your safety, please do not enter work zones and be mindful of work zones during and after construction.
