Greenpoint Facility Upgrades

National Grid continuously evaluates opportunities to enhance the reliability and safety of our energy delivery networks. We are working closely with the numerous city, state, and federal agencies overseeing our projects to ensure our planned upgrades at National Grid’s Greenpoint Energy Center meet current guidelines and regulations. This work includes installation of new sewer lines, upgrades to our maintenance control buildings, and upgrades to our Saltwater Pump House and broader fire suppression system.

National Grid crews are working on multiple upgrades within the Greenpoint Energy Center. These upgrades will improve the systems’ integrity, improve reliability of service, increase safety measures, optimize our operations, and bring us closer to meeting our company-wide sustainability goals.

As part of National Grid’s net-zero commitment to reduce its own emissions, the upgraded facility will include solar panels on new roofs to supplement electricity within the new buildings.
