Permanent Repair Process

After work has been completed in your neighborhood as part of our infrastructure upgrade program, our team will restore areas affected by the work.

During this process, a paving and landscaping inspector will typically be on-site within two weeks of work being completed to review and document the damage and schedule the repairs. A paving and landscaping contractor will then complete the necessary repairs to your property, usually within one month of receiving the order. Please note, paving and landscaping work may be completed on weekends or after hours due to scheduling timeframes.

All paving and landscaping work is weather dependent. Repairs to work done in late fall and winter will typically be completed in early spring. In the winter months, hot asphalt plants close, which prevents us from completing final repairs for any hard surfaces.

Please note that during this time, specialized paving and landscaping contractors are used for different types of work. The crews will then restore the roads with permanent paving in accordance with town ordinance and paving requirements. Work on roadways, sidewalks, and landscaping are often handled on separate days by separate crews.

Repair Work Process: FAQs

If there is any damage done to your property, our crew or contractors will record and submit any repairs needed after their work is completed. There is no action needed from your end.  If you have any questions about the status of the repair, please use the Paving and Landscaping Inquiry form.

Underground gas and electric work completed near the road, driveway or sidewalk may be left with jagged edges and temporarily patched with a cold patch (which is a loose asphalt product) to ensure that the area is made safe until permanent repairs can be made.

During final restoration, these temporary materials will be dug up, removed and replaced with permanent asphalt or concrete to match the material that existed before we made the excavation.

While our paving and landscaping teams will take every measure to restore your landscaping to its previous state, we are unable to provide watering due to the number of locations and the frequency of watering needed for growth - you will be responsible for watering.

Without the presence of moisture, seed will lay dormant and not grow. Water will begin the germination process of the seed, so regular watering over the first 21 days is crucial to ensuring growth.

After 21-30 days, fertilizer or weed control can be used, and the area can be mowed on a regular basis. Dampen the soil without forming puddles. Too much watering can wash away seeds or pool them in one area. Once the seed germinates and grass comes in, continued watering is necessary until the area is full and has been mowed 3 times.

Safety is our top priority. Along with our skilled contractors, we will take every measure possible to ensure the safety of the public and our crew while we complete the work. Crews will use work area protection, including traffic cones, utility work signs, and barriers to ensure the work is done safely.

We respond to gas emergencies 24 hours a day. If you smell gas, act fast and call 911 or our gas emergency line at 1-800-892-2345 or 911.

You can report outages online or by texting the word OUT to 64743. Or, call to report outages and downed wires.

Timelines are dependent on our paving and landscaping contractor’s workplans and weather. Repairs are typically completed within a month of the work being completed. For work done in late fall and winter, repairs will typically be completed in early spring. If you would like to check on the status of the work at your location, please submit a Paving and Landscaping Inquiry and we can follow up with you.
